The experience of developing parental education for prevention of child abuse among collage students; Focusing on Photovoice

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to use photovoice to analyze what kind of experiences college students had while developing child abuse prevention parent education. Accordingly, the research question is ‘What is the experience of college students in the development of child abuse prevention parent education?’ The participants were 16 college students located in G city, and the data collection was expressed through photovoice of experiences they felt while participating in the development of child abuse prevention parent education for 3 hours a week for 5 weeks from April to May 2021. As a result, 5 themes and 12 sub-themes were derived. Themes were ‘time to look after yourself’, ‘expansion of active parenting education’, ‘family: happiness of ordinary life’, ‘care with interest and love’, and ‘work that we must take responsibility for’. The implication of this study is that college students were able to improve their awareness of social problems and have the confidence to take active actions against them through the experiences of developing parental education to prevent child abuse.
